Week 7 - Week 8
The artwork I chose to do the Artist Copy is the sketch of the Prodigal Son (front facing), by Rembrandt van Rijn (Golden Age Dutch painter and graphic artist). For week 7 (first image), I started with the lower left, the "Father" (religious figure - priest or pope, I don't know). In week 8, on 10-7, I started on the actual "Prodigal Son", starting on the foot and focusing on the fluidness and sketchy-ness of the brush on paper (instead of being completely precise). On 10-9, I tried to focus on the folds of the clothing, but decided to move on to the face up top. On the face, I tried to focus on the little details and brush marks. I then, tried to use darker ink to emphasize the deeper values on the face, as the ink I was using couldn't get dark without layering.
Though working on this was sometimes a struggle, as I am not used to following specific drawing "marks" from other people, I enjoyed working with the material and copying the artwork.
